Goals 2.0

It has been over a month since I posted about the end to my 21-goals, and I knew that I could no longer put off sharing what my 22-year-old goals are going to be. In the past (the one year I did goals), I made a goal for each year of my life, but I decided to discontinue this practice for this coming year. Instead of making twenty-two goals, I wanted to make fifteen goals towards which I could devote greater effort. So without any further ado, here is my new set of goals:

  1. Increase my mental strength
  2. Volunteer more
  3. Read through my entire “To Read” list on Goodreads
  4. Shatter my comfort zone
  5. Ride in silence for a week
  6. Write an eight-page research paper (with at least ten scholarly sources) about a topic that I know little about
  7. Reintroduce running into my life in a healthy way
  8. Try five new hobbies*
  9. Say yes for a week
  10. Go on an entirely unplanned adventure
  11. Make a five-year plan
  12. Develop an appreciation for art*
  13. Journal the high points
  14. Change something that I don’t like about myself
  15. Improve my writing

Even though these goals do not share a central theme, I have been purposeful to add a few goals that will help me through my continued transition into post-undergraduate adulthood. And although it is a late start, I am confident that I will be able to accomplish each of these personal challenges within the remainder of the year and come out a better person on the other side. So all I can say to my twenty-second year is: BRING IT ON!

*These two goals, formerly “Broaden My Vocabulary” and “Stretch Every Day for  Month,” were replaced on December 31, 2016 with what I consider to be more compelling goals.
