An Intimidating Book Challenge

Disclaimer: this blog post is short and hastily written because I am writing it while feeling considerable pain. I originally planned on using this week’s post to recount a story of the time when I accidentally stole over 200 donuts from a local shop, but I ended up pulling my back this afternoon. Long story short: it’s hard to be humorous when it feels like a knife is being twisted into your lower spine, so I am going to put off writing that post until I feel better. Instead, I am going to share an update to one of my goals.

I wrote a while back about how I was going to read the book War & Peace for my “read a book that intimidates me” goal. Well, it turns out that not only was it intimidating, but it was also incredibly dull (at least the thirteen pages that I read were). Because of this, I was going back and forth about giving that specific book up when another book came along to take its place.

My friend Tristan mentioned that he was joining a book club, so I said that I would love to join him. He nailed down the details and came back to me saying that we needed to read the book Vanity Fair before the group meets on April 23rd. I figured that it would be no problem, but I  continued to put off reading it. Until now.

I now realize that I have a mere eight days to read this 889-page book. Yikes. That is most definitely intimidating, so I decided that this would be my goal. It will take a lot of dedication to finish it in such a short period of time, but I am looking forward to the challenge. Stay tuned for updates!

Let me know what you think!
